Dairies

Many of the village people had their own cows but there were also several dairies. Ted Whiteman's dairy was on Dampier Street and Bob Bland had another on the site of today's Abbotts Laboratories.

Stillwells Dairy was on the eastern side of Cook Street, on the higher ground above the swamp, and it extended into the oak forest near the eastern end of Solander Streetnow part of the Caltex Oil Refinery site.
