Sewage Treatment Plant

Sydney Water owns the sewage treatment works on Captain Cook Drive. Treated effluent is discharged at an ocean outfall on Potter Point just north of Boat Harbour. The Sewage Treatment Plant is currently (1999) being upgraded and expanded.
Potter Point, with its five unsightly vents, is where Sydney Water's Sewage Treatment Plant discharges effluent into the ocean, creating a health risk for nearby swimmers. This photograph looks south from the point across Boat Harbour to Cronulla beaches, 1999.
